Today marks an exciting moment as we dive into the Aerotune simulation of the latest stage at the Tour de France. This isn’t just any stage; it’s a thrilling challenge that showcases the incredible talent and endurance of the riders involved. Did you know that we can simulate tracks and stages? Well, we did just that for today’s Tour de France stage, and the results are fascinating.

Based on our predictions, we’re expecting the winner’s time to be under 30 minutes, with an impressive average speed exceeding 50 km/h. Can you imagine that? It’s mind-blowing to think about the level of performance these athletes are capable of achieving.

In our simulation, we closely examined various factors that contribute to a rider’s success. We took a detailed look at aeropoints (CdA), power output, carbohydrate storage, pacing strategy, and much more. The numbers we generated are based on a system weight of 75 kg, with a VO2max ranging from 86 to 92, depending on the economy — that’s the amount of oxygen used per watt. Additionally, we considered a VLamax of 0.55, which is crucial for understanding how well a rider can sustain high efforts.

To break it down further, the pacing strategy is set at 424 watts, with an extra 19 watts factored in for every percentage of gradient above 3%. This level of detail helps us understand the demands of the course and how the riders will need to strategize their efforts to come out on top.
