It's race week for the highly anticipated @stonebikehappy - @cro.ultra 12-hour Time Trial European Championships! Excitement is in the air, and we had the chance to catch up with Daniel to dive into his race goals and preparations.
When asked about his goals for the race, Daniel shared his simple yet powerful mindset: βI just want to be able to give my best. After the bad circumstances, I try my best to perform well.β This humility and determination are what makes athletes shine, especially during intense competitions.
Training in the week leading up to a race can be a balancing act, and Daniel is no stranger to hard work. Heβs been putting in a remarkable amount of effort, with a training load of 19-20 hours each week for the last three weeks, which includes three Vo2max sessions. Itβs clear that heβs setting himself up for success, pushing his limits to achieve top performance.
Nutrition plays a crucial role in competition, and Daniel has a solid strategy for fueling his body during the race. He relies on liquid nutrition, consuming 90 grams of carbohydrates per hour through a blend of maltodextrin and fructose, along with electrolytes to keep him hydrated and energized. This careful planning is essential for maintaining energy levels during such an extended event.
