Our Journey

The Afasteryou Story

From a simple question in 2016 to the most advanced training platform today

2016

The Beginning: Aero for Everyone

It all started with one powerful question: Why should aerodynamic performance analysis be reserved for professionals? Back then still known as Aerotune, we had an ambitious vision: Bring CdA testing out of the wind tunnel and onto the open road — affordable, accessible, and accurate.

2017-2018

Velodrome Precision

The Aerotest Velodrome Protocol was developed: controlled conditions, repeatable laps, and significantly improved accuracy. This marked the shift from an engineering experiment to a reliable diagnostic tool used by professional teams, WorldTour teams, national squads, coaches, and ambitious athletes — especially in high-stakes time trial and track environments.

The aeroAPP: Becoming a Platform

With major upgrades to the aeroAPP, we transitioned from single test moments to a true performance platform. Athletes could store and compare setups, track aerodynamic progress over time, and — most importantly — follow a guided, step-by-step workflow that makes testing reliable and repeatable.

Aerodynamics became part of everyday training — not a once-a-season luxury.

2020-2021

Powertest: Lab-Quality for Everyone

The Powertest was our biggest leap: delivering VO₂max, VLamax, and metabolic insights at lab level — without the lab. We developed multiple protocols, physiology-driven modeling, and a simple workflow that stays reproducible across environments.

Today it supports development across professional teams, WorldTour teams, national squads, and dedicated age-group athletes, and it has contributed to successful performance planning at top international competitions.

2022

Race Simulation & Metabolic Scenarios

With Powertest data, we built a race simulation engine that combines metabolic modeling, aerodynamics, physics, terrain, and environment — enabling athletes and teams to test pacing strategies and quantify time savings.

In parallel, we expanded Powertest analytics to cover different metabolic scenarios, including carbohydrate demand and usage across intensities, helping athletes plan fueling and training with far more precision.

This also marked the beginning of training our Activity Analysis — learning how real athletes respond to training stress across weeks and months.

Powertest & Synthetic Data Patent

A turning point: we enabled weekly estimation of VO₂max and VLamax from regular training rides — reducing the need for frequent dedicated tests and allowing continuous trend monitoring.

European Patent Granted

Our synthetic data generation method for machine learning training was granted a European patent, proving we don't just use standard algorithms — we build original innovations.

End of 2023, we became Official Supplier for Team Visma | Lease a Bike. In addition, many WorldTour teams continued to use our ecosystem for testing, modeling, and performance planning.

2024

Simulation Accuracy & Training Intelligence

Our race simulation matured into a highly accurate decision tool, used by WorldTour teams to prepare key time trials and pacing strategies.

At the same time, our training system improved substantially: better interpretation of daily sessions, clearer readiness signals, and an expanded physiological backbone — including an integrated lactate model.

We also continued to refine aero workflows, including velodrome and outdoor protocols, making testing more consistent and actionable.

Afasteryou & TrainingPlan: Athlete-Specific Intelligence

In 2025, Aerotune evolved into Afasteryou — reflecting our mission more clearly: turning science into measurable improvement for every athlete.

Our most ambitious innovation is the TrainingPlan, built on each athlete's complete metabolic profile (VO₂max, VLamax, thresholds, substrate use) and real-world training outcomes gathered over years.

What makes it different:

Unlike generic chat systems, this is not based on a large language model. It is a specialized, data-trained model designed for performance planning — learning from training history, Powertest insights, and individual response patterns to guide fully automated, day-to-day decision making.

"I use Training AI for long-term development tracking of my athletes. It allows me to monitor how fitness progresses over months, especially VO₂max, VLamax, and glycolytic power. Plus, I can analyze daily trainings and races more precisely: how taxing they were metabolically, how much energy they cost, and how they impact performance readiness."
