About this cohort: these are measured Powertests, overwhelmingly cyclists and trained endurance athletes. Values therefore sit well above general-population norms — a mid-table result here is still a strong VO2max in absolute terms.
How the percentile is calculated
Every completed Powertest feeds an anonymous, aggregated distribution: for each age group and gender we store the quantiles of the measured VO2max values. Your input is interpolated into that distribution — a percentile of 70 means 70 percent of the athletes in that cohort measured lower than you. Nothing you type is stored, and cells with too few measurements are never shown; the comparison falls back to a broader cohort instead.
Why these numbers look high
This is not the general population. Everyone in the cohort trains, and roughly nine out of ten are cyclists — the group is therefore far fitter than any age-normed reference table you will find elsewhere. Landing mid-field here is a genuinely strong result.
